This is the most common yet easily overlooked source of water leakage! Many walls on both sides of the bathroom entrance are blistered, moldy, and have rotten baseboards, all of which are rooted here.

Leakage phenomenon: The wall outside the bathroom door is damp, peeling, and moldy, while the floor inside the bathroom is dry.

Reason for water leakage:

-Many experienced workers in Guangzhou only focus on the floor and shower area walls when doing waterproofing, but forget to install a "waterproof dam" under the threshold stone.

-When laying threshold stones, only dry and hard cement mortar is used, and no waterproof treatment is applied underneath.

As a result, the accumulated water under the bathroom tiles will slowly seep out from the cement layer below the threshold stone, spreading like a "siphon" to the dry wall outside the door, causing "wall foot illness".

What should I do?

Judgment: If water leakage is concentrated at the entrance and there is no problem inside, it is highly likely to be a problem with the threshold stone.

Solution: This usually does not require smashing floor tiles. Professional masters can use high-pressure grouting or permeable waterproof materials around the threshold stone for local sealing, forming a new waterproof barrier. If a major overhaul is planned, it is necessary to pry open the threshold stone, install a "waterstop" on the base layer, and then re lay it.
